Regulators: Wildemount Up

The Regulators are a ragtag band of mercenaries who served under the employ of Helja Foamtankard a gruff dwarf who serves Port Zoon as the minister of taverns. Their paths crossed in Zadash at the annual Oozepalooza , a combat festival where a group of green adventurers face off against a horde of oozes to claim fortune and glory. While the Tinker proved the better combatant that day the group decided to help a local lady track down her husband who went missing at the festivities. This led to the discovery of a plot to uncover a lost location, great in power.

The group passed through The Wuyun Gates and made their way to Port Zoon accompanied by The Salt Barons, a mercenary group they met in Zadash. The Salt Barons got them in contact with Helja Foamtankard who offered them a charter to act on her behalf as a mercenary company in exchange for investigating the death of her friend, Valanthe, the chemist. The party tracked Valanthe’s progress to a haunted house that was said to once be the home of a great alchemist who could turn objects into solid gold. What they uncovered was a joint smuggling operation between The Revelry and The Myriad. After a fierce battle with a Revelry wizard and his minions, the Regulators prove victorious and only Redclaw, the first mate of the wizard, escaped with his life.

The group returned to Port Zoon to report their findings and were promptly recruited by Brinebottom, a local junk dealer who happens to be no fan of The Myriad. The party scoured the sewers stumbling upon a bizarre cult in the process, and ultimately procured an item Brinebottom feared lost. The party also meets the owner of said item, a dormant modron. Harol Tenpenny Lord of inns, and Helja Foamtankard’s chief rival, thanks the party for their assistance. He warns them of a Cerberus Assembly scouting party searching for The Tinker in exchange for their help in clearing out The Myriad presence in an abandoned warehouse he hopes to convert to an inn.

The Regulators spend some downtime investigating their origins, magical tattoos, procuring obscure items, and drinking heavily. The Salt Barons have set out in an attempt to claim The Tide Hammer, a renowned Revelry vessel found adrift of the shores of the Twinward Isles, and the group learns that the Myriad presence in the abandoned warehouse is diminished due to similar intentions.

The Regulators manage to clear the warehouse of the Myriad group, but at great cost. Stilles falls in battle. The party uncovers some information on the Tide Hammer in a letter signed by an M.K. They find some more opportunities in the form of Harol Tenpenny asking for The Tinker’s help in getting his modron up and running, as well as Shalazar asking for some artifacts from the lost city of Obarra deep in the Quoraska Jungle. They go to check in on Helja only to find her strangled body.

The Tinker activates the Modron and successfully instructs it to follow his commands. The Tidehammer has returned. and the Regulators find themselves fighting against a pair of Cerberus Assembly Seekers, a bounty hunter, and some hired help. They manage to take out one of the seekers, and flee. Adrift at sea, Zoldara communes with a pod of dolphins to guide them to Nicodranas, They discover an imprisoned Xorn in the hold and feed it some coins. After a battle with a rogue water elemental Nicodranas pulls into view. Tuck decides to rename the vessel and manages to get the word “Goin' “ painted on, but falls into the sea before he can finish with “Real Swell” Rozenwyn tosses him a line as Zoldara completes the name with “Sookie”

The Regulators soon realize they have no knowledge of how to dock a ship of this size, so they row into port and hire a bosun named Kal Hammerhands to assist in getting them into port, repairing the ship's ballistae, and hiring a crew. Zoldara visits Melora’s Light and learns of a shuddered shrine to Melora below the lighthouse, as well as mournful wails keeping her up at night. The rest of the party goes sightseeing before meeting at the local inn for the night.
